Still a Best-Kept Secret: the Marina del Rey Neighborhoods

The Stunning Neighborhood of Marina del Rey

Today was one of those really good days — those days when you get up in the morning and just love being alive and glad to be here. I am especially happy because today I completed a transaction in the Marina del Rey peninsula of Los Angeles.

Now I talk a lot about Venice and Brentwood real estate, but this little area is a slice of heaven. Located only seven minutes from LAX, and right on the sand, it is an area of about 1.5 miles of condos on the beach. What is great about this neighborhood is that it attracts all types of people — from high-profile celebrities to easy-going beach bums.

Marina del Rey has a very laid-back, private feel. The beach essentially is a private beach, as most people that access the beach usually access at the Venice Pier. Condos range anywhere from the low $600,000s to over $4 million for ocean front. The one I am closing today, in which I represented both the buyer and the seller, was a contemporary home located on Ocean Front Walk. It sold for $2,050,000. It has almost 3000 square feet with 3 levels, and an unobstructed view of the beach.

Home Buyers Choose Marina del Rey for Bike Trials and Walkability

People that live in Marina del Rey often choose this area for its walkability.  Locals can walk to a bunch of restaurants and shops that line Washington Boulevard. It is only a short bike ride away from Venice Beach, and the famed Abbott Kinney Boulevard in Venice. This little piece of paradise is close to all the action yet seems so far away.

What is your favorite part about living or working in Marina del Rey?  I’d love to hear your thoughts, in the comments section below.

I love surfing south of the Venice Pier. You can see the planes take off from LAX while you while you sit in the water during sunrise or sunset. The peninsula is a very special getaway within Los Angeles County.
