5 Best Burger Joints on the Westside

burger1-300x204 5 Best Burger Joints on the WestsideWho doesn’t like a good burger? Unless you don’t eat meat, I can’t think of a reason why you shouldn’t get those burger cravings every once and awhile. I’m a carnivore, so for me, I get these cravings more often than not. Luckily, there are plenty of places on the Westside to satisfy them.

I always see new articles, polls, and blogs about the top 5 burgers in Los Angeles (top 5 anything for that matter), so I thought it would be fun to just create my own list of favorites on the Westside.

I’ll be honest, the sole reason I’m doing this so that I have a legitimate reason to revisit all five of these locations.

Number 5Apple Pan (Westwood) – The Apple Pan uses very simple ingredients that blend together in perfect harmony. The Hickory Burger and Steakburger are the favorites, and have been since the restaurant opened in 1947. For dessert, they offer timeless choices between their famous apple, cream, and pecan pies.

Number 4Fatburger (Westwood/Santa Monica) – I love this place. From the juke-box that lets you pick your own tunes, to the way they yell out your order, this restaurant just has a good vibe. Yes, it’s a chain, but that’s because it offers great service and great food. Kingburger with fat fries never disappoints.

Number 3R&D/Houston’s/Bandera (Santa Monica/West LA) – Owned by the same restaurant group, they deliver the goods. R&D is a personal favorite because of it’s location on Montana Avenue. All three are a little more expensive than the rest, but that shouldn’t steer you away.

Number 2Father’s Office (Santa Monica/Culver City) – Another great burger joint in Santa Monica? Yes. Not only is it in Santa Monica, but it’s located just down the street from R&D on Montana Avenue! What makes this burger so epic is the combination of ingredients (dry-aged beef, caramelized onion, gruyere, and arugula to name a few), which put it in the category of gourmet burger.

Number 1In-n-Out (Westwood/Marina Del Rey) – I know, so cliché. But why ignore such a good thing? In my opinion, there is no comparison – melted cheese, crisp lettuce, and great French fries. It amazes me how every time I eat here it is almost better than the time before. It’s truly is “What a hamburger is all about!”

Honorable mentions: Hinano (Marina Del Rey), The Counter (Santa Monica/Marina Del Rey)

Please, feel free to agree and disagree with what I think. I would love suggestions to locations that you think would make the list. I’m always looking for a better dining experience, and I’m also willing to redo this list in six months, if I find better places. I challenge you.

I agree with your choices, but not so with the order. I would put In-n-Out at #3 and move Father’s Office up to #1 and Houstons at #2, but if cost is a factor then put In-n-Out at #2 and keep Houstons at #3. The Father’s Office burger is just so tender and juicy that it out does any other burger, and complimented with one of their many beer selections and you’ve got it made.

On a rainy day like today I would recommend going to Father’s Office. They have a great selection of beers, friendly staff, and a relaxed vibe.

I always thought a bar called “The Office” would be a great name. So when I read that there is a “Father’s Office” I have to go check it out!

It may not be gourmet, and I can only eat one like every other year, but the Double-King Egg Burger at Fatburger is truly chief of the burger hierarchy!
