LA’s New Nightspot: Culver City
Last year, my wife and I were waiting at the maitre d’s station for a table at one of the many new restaurants in Culver City’s downtown area. A long black limousine pulled up to the curb directly outside. From the back of the conspicuous vehicle stepped a couple of very well known celebrities! The celebs wandered in, were greeted by the owner and escorted to their table. I turned to my wife and said, “Ten years ago, that Limo would have driven straight through downtown Culver City and kept on going!”
I have lived in Culver City for the last 13 years. When I first arrived here, there was only a handful of downtown restaurants — and they all closed around 10pm, even on a Saturday night!
Fast forward to now: a veritable explosion of eateries, theaters, bars, shops, and boutiques now enliven the downtown area. People come from afar to frequent these establishments, and today it may even be a challenge to get a table on a Monday night, let alone on the weekend!
If you haven’t sampled the nightlife in Culver City yet, I highly recommend that you do. You never know, you might bump into someone from the Hollywood set!

I completely agree. I’ve lived in LA most of my life and 15 years ago the only reason to go to Culver City was to find a radiator cap for your 1982 Buick. Now it’s a fun place with great restaurants, and you can park and walk. What a concept.
I have lived in Culver City for the last 14 years, the downtown development is nothing short of miraculous. When I first moved here, if you went out on a Saturday night it would have been difficult to find anything open after 10:00pm! Congratulations Culver City Redevelopment Agency.
